Years ago I worked for a large software company where a marketing executive confided in me, “We don’t release products here, they just escape.” He was lamenting how the company was too technically driven. Engineers and product managers always wanted to add “just one more feature” before letting a product out the door.

On the other hand, this company was headquartered in Marin County, California, where quality wineries know “No wine before it’s time.”
